Andrew Carnegie embodied the American rags to riches mythology and invented the self help genre. He had ten principles by which he lived and did business which are still relevant today.
1. Set A Clear Goal
What do you want out of life? Well set your eyes on the prize and keep after it.
2. Surround Yourself With The Right People
Choose friends and mentors who are living the life you want to live.
3. Give 110 Percent
Don’t do the bare minimum required of you, do more, if you want to thrive and not just survive.
4. Confidence
Believe in yourself, your goals, and your destination.
5. Govern Yourself
If you use self-control and self motivation, no one else will need to control and motivate you.
6. Do Something New
Don’t hop on the bandwagon, build a new wagon, a better one.
7. Attitude Is Everything
You get what you give, and if you give out positive energy and feelings then you will receive the like back, and vice versa.
8. Be Discerning
Learn how to cut through bullshit.
9. Focus Your Energy
Keep moving forward, even through adversity, and don’t be easily distracted by inconsequential things.
10. Find The Good In Everything
Even hardship, look for the opportunities which lie like hidden pearls in your problems.
